As an electrician, you install the infrastructure required for the electricity supply and carry out maintenance on existing installations. You ensure that electricity is supplied safely to a house or building, and you know how to take the right approach to carrying out maintenance and resolving problems, even in older properties. In addition, you install new infrastructure for the electricity supply. You are able to read building plans accurately and, based on these, determine where the wiring should run and where sockets and light switches should be fitted.
